You have the power to make your street a safer place to live.

When you report a crime you:

  • Stop the criminals getting away with it.
  • Make it less likely they will do it again.
  • Protect other people from becoming victims.
  • Stand up for what is right.

What is a crime?

Crime makes people's lives a misery. A crime is anything that is against the law including:

  • Buying and selling drugs.
  • Intimidation or violence with or without weapons.
  • Stealing.
  • Driving dangerously or without a licence or insurance.
  • Sexual assault.
  • Gang crime.
  • Vandalism or graffiti.

Do you feel afraid to report crime?

Did you know that:

  • You can report a crime anonymously by phoning Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 or by going online and completing a form.
  • The police are required to listen to you, treat you with respect and support you.
  • If you see a crime happening you should call 999 and ask to speak to the police - you may save a life doing this.
  • If the crime is not urgent you can go to your local police station or call your local police station (their telephone number will be in the phone book).
  • If you are frightened for your safety, tell the police and they will help you.
  • If you report the crime we have a chance to stop the criminal and they are less likely to do it again.
